Hey Kid...

Today you turn 18. That’s 18 years of learning, laughing, growing. That’s 18 years we’ve had to share together. Through ups and downs – nears and fars. And there’s not a second I would trade. There are a lot of special moments but I’m going to limit myself to 18. ;)

I remember….

…the day you were born - middle of spring break & VERY early in the morning. Dad woke me up and I’m pretty sure I told him to go away. I got up the second time he came to my room. :)

…rocking you to sleep while humming “Just as I am”. It worked every time.

…your curly, kinky hair and the way you twirl it when you’re tired.

…the cute incorrect way you used to say words like “schreket” for ‘secret’ and “kanks!” for ‘thanks’. We hated correcting you – it was just so cute.

…you crying “I no wan a NOP!” after we said you needed a N-A-P.

…the first day of Kindergarten, Middle School and High School.

…when at 7 you told me I couldn’t get a tattoo because I “wasn’t that kind of girl”.

…the sound of Lego’s being racked through a bucket from upstairs.

…you standing outside my Blazer telling me the frog in my window was going to crawl into the engine and cause it to blow up saying “I’ve seen this a thousand times” – at 13 years old.

…the Kid Car adventures in California.

…the time I got pulled over with you in the car and you saying “Hmmm!! I’m telling mom!”.

…the time we spent the week without mom and you needed help with a VBS verse. You couldn’t remember which one so I asked for a description. And in all seriousness, you looked at me and said “Timberley, you know, the one with God in it! Like He’s the God of everyone and He loves us.” I think my eye started twitching. When I told you the Bible is full of such verses you said "I know you know which one Timberley". I STILL don't know which verse you were looking for.

…our Brother/Sister dance at our wedding.

…how I used to say “Guess what?” and you would say “What?” and I would say “I love you”. It got to the point where I would say “Guess what?” and you would immediately say “I love you too”. :)

…how you call me and Tami “The Sisters”. And you'll always be my Booganose.

…the first time you drove.

…you riding your Cappi.

…you winning the buckle at Miracle Farm’s Day in the country.

There are countless more we’ve shared and countless more we’ll share. College is coming up. I’ll try to limit the crying. ;)

So Happy 18th Munchkin! Here’s to many, many more.

And guess what?
I love you.

A Jealous Beast

It's no secret that Atticus LOVES his man. He gets very upset when The Man is outside and he can't reach him. He gets annoyed when The Man is hugging That Woman. (He doesn't see it this way - he sees it as That Woman is hugging His Man.) It's just so sad really.

Last night my Beloved was sweet enough to rub my feet.

Here's Atti's side of the story.

"Why are you touching The Woman? Don't you love me?!"

"Fine, I will just try to eat her then. Maybe my Man won't notice."

"That didn't work. Okay, I'll lay on his glorious hand! That will prevent him from touching her!"

"Inch by inch, I'll get there...."

Stupid Dog. ;)

Until next time...

DING!

My Sister and I have the best time together. We laugh no matter what it is we're doing. And we usually cause a scene.

She was in town the other day to get a few errands taken care of like making changes to her EZTag account. She could do so online but she can't remember her log in - so instead we got a story. :)

We arrive at the store to see a line. A long line. We're 'greeted' at the door (I say 'greeted' because this lady is NOT in professional clothes or wearing a name tag OR offering us anything helpful) by a lady who asks what we're in for. We say make changes to the account and she sends us to the back of the line. So we kind of stand there - next to the person at the end of the line which is not enough. Ms. Helpful screams 'BEHIND THE AT&T GUY!' - yeesh lady. We're not sure what her deal is, she can't do anything but point you toward the end of the line. The one line. But luckily Mr. AT&T is hilarious.

We start talking to him - Tami is less than thrilled we're in line - she doesn't know her account information - and the door lady keeps pointing people to the obvious end of the line. To increase the entertainment value our new friend, Mr. AT&T starts making a "DING" noise every time someone comes in the door to better assist Ms. Helpful. This makes us laugh.

We finally get to the front of the line and Mr. AT&T lets us go ahead of him - he can't wait to see what happens. :) We did manage to make our girl in training smile a few times and we weren't banned from using the tollway so the trip was a success.

We hit a few more locations, had a yummy meal and laughed our way through job postings.

My Poopie brings me joy. She's my best friend, my baby sister, my movie quote buddy. And I love her a whole lot. And I'm so thankful for our memories and moments that make us laugh.

Until next time......
