Nighttime

I love a rainy night.

We had plans to go out last night and a babysitter en route however the weather started to get worse and we were afraid we would get caught in high water so we decided to cancel. My mom was too close to turn around so she came to house anyway. About an hour after she arrived the heavens opened and the house shook.  We had hail hitting the house and the back porch flooded. To be fair, the back porch floods every time it rains for more then 30 minutes. The dog wasn't impressed and the baby didn't notice. She just kept kicking and squealing in her bed. It was quite exciting! I haven't seen hail in years!

So instead of going out - we ordered pizza (once Dominos had their electricity back on) and listened to the rain.

I never watch the news - it's depressing - and I never watch it on the weekends with the C team however every time it rains in Houston the city disappears under water. Seriously. So I knew the weekend team would be ecstatic - now's their chance! BREAKING NEWS - HOUSTON IS FLOODING! So we watched. And sure enough - the city was under water. Submerged cars, downed trees, collapsed buildings that succumbed to the hail. Houston was a hot mess....again. This happens every time it rains. Seriously. Basically if there is a band of rain heading towards Houston - you should get home as soon as you can and move your car to inside your house to avoid it being flooded out. Yep. Not a joke.

I'm thankful for rain and hail and lightening. I'm sorry we missed our friends but happy we stayed home safe and dry. I'm grateful everyone I know came out okay. And I'm thankful for a nice visit with Nana.
