Today we started the baby proofing process. We put up a gate to keep her from going in to the front room. Our front room has a large entry way and since there are things in the foyer we'd prefer her not to climb, we put the gate between the foyer and the living room. I think this makes the dog sad. He'll be okay. Since it is in the living room and can be seen by everyone, we bought a pretty one. I'm not ashamed. And it's super easy to get through the gate which is lovey.
We also put cabinet latches on the cabinets and a lock on the TV cabinet. All the plugs are secured and we removed the swinging door between the kitchen and the dining room. We never close it and don't really want her figuring out how to so we just took it down. We have big visions with our imaginary lottery winnings that involve an open kitchen anyway. This is one step closer!! Sort of.
While she's still not crawling - she's about a hot second away so we feel a little more ready. We know this is futile and just a start but we feel a little better.She was on her floor yesterday and managed to make it to her book shelf to empty the bottom shelf for me. Such a sweetie. ;)
